Frances Ragusa, 75, is finally in the last round of her 34-year divorce settlement battle with her 77-year old former spouse, Philip. There is an estimated $100,000 in unpaid child support that she will more likely than not be rewarded. This amount is the result of 30 years of interest that “ballooned from the $14,393.57 payment after their December 1977 divorce.”

Mrs. Ragusa made a few comments to the New York Post saying that, “I want justice, that’s all. My family did not deserve what he and the system did to us.” She claims she was forced to go on welfare for a short time after their divorce.

The past few years have been rough on the former baseball star Lenny Dykstra.  He’s had to deal with bankruptcy, his wife then filing for divorce and now some sexual harassment charges.

The now former housekeeper for the Dykstra home, has been reported saying that she was forced into giving the ex-baseball star oral sex every Saturday.

A recent article from Fox News tells the tale of the alleged sexual assault.  Allegedly the housekeeper needed to keep her job so she continued to return week after week even though she was being forced into performing sexual acts.

How does Dykstra respond to being in the negative spot light once again?  With pride of course.

“If she was assaulted on Saturdays, then I’m a … ballerina dancer on Sundays.  This is a maid.  That’s not even worth commenting on” said Dykstra in the Fox News article.

Did the events really occur or was this just yet another scheme to try and extort money from someone of celebrity stardom?

If she is attempting to get money, she is barking up the wrong tree as Dykstra filed for bankruptcy at the end of 2009.

I was contacted by a potential client today who had an all too familiar sob story.  His “wife” had hired someone in Mexico to do a fast Mexican divorce.  She was given final papers.  She got remarried.

Years later her supposedly ex-husband wants to get remarried and to make a long story short, the Mexican Consulate informed them that the divorce was not valid.  They had been scammed.

Now I have to explain to this poor gentleman on the phone that he is not actually married.  His marriage is void as per public policy, which is a fancy way of saying that he isn’t married.

I get several calls a day from potential clients who need to get divorced now, ahora, within a few days, this week or this month.

I tell them all the same thing: There are a lot of fast divorce scams on the internet promising get divorced quick schemes that are not legal and can get you into serious legal trouble.

Now you decide to get married.  You and your boyfriend or girlfriend go to a New York court, sign the marriage papers and swear that you are not currently married.  The court issues you a marriage license.

This is where you can get in serious legal trouble.  In New York state, as in all other states, bigamy (or being married to two or more persons at the same time) is illegal and punishable by up to four years of imprisonment.

Think about it… Does getting a divorce right now, this minute, mean so much to you that you want to risk going to prison?  If it was me, I would rather get legally divorced, wait whatever time period I had to wait, and do it right.
