Over the last few days I have received numerous phone calls from potential clients who at first seem excited about the affordable divorce prices that we are able to offer.  “Wow, that’s like $2,500 less than I have been quoted,” one exclaimed.

I always tell my clients, “I guarantee that I’ll complete all my work in under three days, yet, I don’t have a crystal ball.” (Although, that wouldn’t be too shabby!)  If I did, I could tell you how long the court will take to complete your divorce.

If the grocery store is busy, you will likely have to wait in line to checkout.  The same goes for divorce court.

Often I get calls from husbands or wives, talking in hushed tones, asking for advice regarding how they can convince their spouse to get an uncontested divorce versus a contested one.  I don’t blame them.  In today’s economy, I too would want to at least try my best to get an uncontested divorce that is more affordable, far faster and less painful that its contested alternative.

I get several calls a day from potential clients who need to get divorced now, ahora, within a few days, this week or this month.

I tell them all the same thing: There are a lot of fast divorce scams on the internet promising get divorced quick schemes that are not legal and can get you into serious legal trouble.

For example, say you are still legally married yet want to get remarried to your new girlfriend or boyfriend for whatever reason.  And for arguments sake, lets say you make the mistake of falling for a fast divorce scheme advertising something like “Same Day Mexican Divorce $299.”  You get a piece of paper saying that you are legally divorced in Mexico.

I get calls from people who want to get divorced today, right now, within the hour, manana, this minute, by tomorrow, and the list goes on and on…

I have been told that certain unsavory websites promise to fly them to Mexico, Nevada or some other sketchy place to get them divorced ASAP.  They claim that they have been told that these divorces will be legal and valid in New York state.  Yikes…
