Once the initial shock subsided, many people sent me emails , text and left messages applauding my bravery. No, matter how friendly the break up is, the change is an adjustment that comes with ups and downs. My advice: Separate your kids when telling them about the divorce My therapist said no one had ever asked this before; I am glad I thought of it. There are no rules : Do what works for you. There are many places to go for information but no one knows you and your situation. Be friends with your ex even if you have a fight or bad day: It doesn’t mean we don’t have moments of anger or days filled with rage, but if you truly interested in doing what’s best for the kids, being friend is the way to go.
