Long Island Boasts One of the Lowest Divorce Rates in the Nation
Married life on Long Island is great. Did you know that Long Island, New York has one of the lowest divorce rates in the nation? Some credit this to the fact that people are waiting to late adulthood to tie to the knot, while others credit this the once tough New York divorce laws. It was not until recently that New York adopted the no fault divorce policy. In fact, New York was one of the last states in the nation to put no fault divorce into play.
A recent article, that was first published from PR-Usa.Net, talks about the lower divorce rates that are found on Long Island. “In a national ranking of the top 50 counties with the highest divorce rates in the country, Nassau and Suffolk counties – and every other county in the state of New York for that matter – were noticeably absent from the list. And despite the overall number of both divorces and marriages in Long Island decreasing in recent years, there are still more than half a million married couples living here. The rates of marriage and divorce in Long Island are typical of the rest of the state. Nationally, New York has one of the lowest divorce rates at 2.8 people per 1000, or 8.4 percent of all New York state residents.”
Rather interesting when you think about the size of New York and the population. The article can be found here.
