Misuse of Orders of Protection Rising in Divorce Cases

Orders of protection is a system that was originally created to help protect against abuse. It has now become a strategic move used by lawyers to benefit their client.

To obtain the orders of protection a women must claim that she has a reasonable fear for her life. She is not required to have documented evidence of abuse. Although a man may also obtain the orders, it is very unlikely. 85 percent of protective orders are filed against men. The accused must say out of the home and away from the children.

The orders of protection tend to be detrimental to those who are falsely accused causing them with their careers, finances, and children.
