More women filing for divorce, says HC

MUMBAI: Bombay high court on Tuesday said more women were filing for divorce, while dissolving a marriage after a woman told the court that she couldn’t put up with daily beating from her husband.

A division bench of Justices P B Majmudar and Anoop Mohta were hearing a petition filed by Bhavna Puri challenging the family court’s March 6, 2010 order dismissing her petition for divorce. She married Vipin on February 15, 2001. Subsequently two girls were born. She said Vipin ill-treated her and did not allow her to contact her parents.
