Schwarzenegger Plans to Give Shriver “Generous” Divorce Settlement
This past Friday, Maria Shriver filed for divorce from former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Announcing their separation in May, the couple was married for 25 years and has four children together. According to a source from RadarOnline.com, their lawyers have been discussing the settlement for over two months. Schwarzenegger is worth up to $750 million and expected to give his ex-wife a “very generous divorce settlement.”
The media has had eyes on the couple after Schwarzenegger’s revelation that he had an affair and a love child with a former housekeeper who had worked for the couple for twenty years. Under the law in California, known as a “Community Property” state, assets that are accumulated during a marriage can be split in half with a divorce. RadarOnline reported that Schwarzenegger plans to give Shriver an amount even greater than that required by the state law. A source stated that Arnold “doesn’t think that any amount of money can minimize what he has put her through” and “wants to show his children that he is taking responsibility for his actions.”
