Comedian Russell Brand is opening up about his highly-publicized divorce to singer Katy Perry, citing a busy schedule as the main reasoning for the split.

The high profile couple tied the knot in India in October 2010 and the relationship was persistently affected by rumors of a potential split throughout the duration of their marriage.

Of the reason behind the failed go at marital bliss, Russell dished, “I was really, really in love with her, but it was difficult to see each other… We were together when it was right to be together, and when it wasn’t we worked it out… It was a lovely relationship… it mostly didn’t work for practical reasons.”
