Cruise’s lawyer speaks out about divorce

Bert Fields tells the BBC that the actor will file his own divorce papers in response to those filed by his soon-to-be ex Katie Holmes last week.

Much more he wouldn’t say. He was kind of tight-lipped, and Cruise himself has not been heard from publicly. But Fields did have a few sanctimonious words

“We are letting ‘the other side’ (Katie and her team) play the media until they wear everyone out and then we’ll have something to say,” Fields said.

OK, we’re worn out.

“It’s not Tom’s style to do this publicly,” he added. “He is really sad about what’s happening.”

Sad and stylish … that’s the Tom Cruise we know and love.

Fields wouldn’t say where Cruise would file for divorce or whether or not he’d seek joint custody of daughter Suri.
