Higher Divorce Rates Among Baby Boomers

Call it what you like : “Silver Separations,” or “Grey Divorce,” the fact is the divorce rates for people over the age of 50 are growing rapidly every day. But the divorce rate among these older people are not due to your traditional causes like cheating and adultery. Most of these baby boomer divorces seem to be because many couples are falling out of love after 20-30 years of marriage, a recent study even claimed that 66% of these older divorces are instigated by women.

Most experts have cited this rise of older divorces as a sign of the times in which these couples were born. Baby boomers were among the first to marry for love and happiness, as opposed to simply fulfilling a marital role as it was in the early 20th century and for centuries before. This empowerment has lead to many couple re-assesing their relationship after a certain amount of time something that was unheard of in the past.
