NY Divorce Filings Spike Just In Time For Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s day has traditionally been the time to send flowers and show your significant other just how much you care, right? Well times have changed and it  may appear that Valentine’s Day is now the time to file for a divorce. A recent article that was run in the New York Post, shows that there’s a spike in filing for divorce right around what is considered to be the most romantic holiday.

The article goes on to state ” “Over the past two years, we’ve seen an average increase of 40 per cent in the number of requests for divorce lawyers around Valentine’s day, compared to the previous six months,” Mark Britton, founder and chief executive of the web site, told the newspaper. “Furthermore, the number of questions about divorce has soared 36 per cent during that same time.”
