What were your New Year’s resolutions this year? Did they include getting a divorce. You’re not alone.
Although no formal study has been done, there does seem to be a trend in filing for a divorce when the New Year starts. Why is that you may wonder?
A recent article in the Huffington Post posed the same question. Could it be that the pressures from the holidays is just too much to bear? Perhaps the divorce was coming and many people just wanted to wait till the holidays were over to make it formal.
Holidays are the time when you are supposed to spend time with your loved ones, and often couples who are on the verge of a divorce will often just go through the motions. A new year brings new beginnings, so why not get a divorce, right? Well, that is if you are unhappy and there is no way to reconcile your marriage.
In the article it was also stated that “Many people choose to acknowledge long-standing unhappiness due to physical and/or mental abuse and resolve to start fresh in a New Year.” That very well could be the case. What do you think about this trend?
