Can Divorce Lead to an Early Grave?
Research done by the University of Arizona suggests that divorce can be just as deadly as being overweight, smoking or heavy drinking. The study shows that adults who have gone through a divorce are 23 percent more likely to die at a young age compared to adults who are married.
Researchers showed that divorce can have the same risks health wise that smoking a pack of cigarettes a day or being obese have.
About two thirds of adults who get divorced remarry at some point, however the other third do not fair as well. That one third is likely to become severely depressed and have trouble re-adjusting to everyday life after their divorce.
This difficulty can lead to various health problems, such as weight gain, insomnia and even cardiovascular disease.
