Divorce Rates Rise Among Airmen

In the last decade, divorce rates among those serving in the Air Force has jumped nearly 64 percent. The rising rate of divorce among service men and women is being attributed to higher rates of deployment.

Deployments create stress on family dynamics and marriages. This stress is believed to be the  cause for the 30,000 divorces over the past ten years involving those enlisted in the Air Force.

Additionally the stress associated with re-adjusting to civilian life after deployment has been cited as a cause for the high divorce rate.

On average more women enlisted in the Air Force are getting divorce than men, though there has not been any explanation for this.

The Air Force Currently has the highest rate of divorce out of any branch of the military.
