Don’t Be Afraid to Ask for Help

Though grandparents may step into a family for a variety of reasons, including illness, death or financial problems, grandparents can also be great sources of support for newly divorced parents.

And we should definitely thank them for all of their help, as studies have found greater involvement is challenging for them. “It’s this magnified multi-generational parenting. They’re worrying about two generations of kids,” explained Carol Musil, a professor in the School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University.

It can, however, create a stronger support system within the family and help both the children and the adults. It provides grandparents with the knowledge that their grandchildren are in good care.
